Auto FM Transmitters - Why Wireless Is The Better Option

Auto FM Transmitters - Why Wireless Is The Better Option

Two very common devices used to play personal audio using a car stereo are auto FM transmitters and wired FM modulators. Generally, transmitters are a wireless device and modulators are wired. Both devices essentially do the same thing: allow you to play an MP3 player, smartphone or iPod - and listen to you music on the car's stereo system - by converting the audio to RF signals and sending them to the car stereo.

The debate is this: which device is the best? Most people assume that a hardwired setup is the best way to go. My question is simple: Why?

In my experience - with any form of technology - if there is a wireless option, then that's the one I want. I can't think of a scenario where having wires all over the place, or having something permanently installed, would give me optimal functionality and ease of use.

To illustrate my point, let's briefly examine the process - and consequences - of having a wired modulator permanently installed in your vehicle:

1. You need to pull out your factory radio without damaging the vehicle.

2. You'll need to splice wires, and connect all of the wiring so everything works correctly.

3. After everything is set up, you'll need to get everything back in place so it looks respectable.

4. If your modulator stops working or you decide you don't want it, then you'll have to uninstall everything again.

5. If you are leasing a car or plan on selling your car, then you'll have to uninstall the product or just lose it all together.

6. Since it's permanently installed, if you want to switch back and forth between multiple vehicles it won't be possible.

Most modulators are installed in your dash and hidden from your view and reach. Because of this, it will be very inconvenient to fix/solve any problems that arise while owning the modulator.

However, if you choose to go with an auto FM transmitter (also called a wireless auto FM modulator), you'll avoid the enTire installation process. An FM transmitter is a portable device that requires no installation, giving you the option of transporting it from vehicle to vehicle, as well as using it in your home. It is also very easy to adjust the settings on the transmitter since it is not hidden in your dash.

It's important to avoid average, generic FM transmitters. Such transmitters, usually costing no more than , will provide you with poor audio performance. On the other hand, a quality FM transmitter will give you high audio quality that will perform as good, if not better, than a wired FM modulator.

In addition, a quality auto FM transmitter provides the following benefits:

1. The transmitter is compatible with virtually any audio source, which gives it an unlimited amount of uses.

2. It has the capability to broadcast over the enTire public FM band.

3. Volume and mute control, ability to switch from stereo to mono, automatic gain control, preset frequencies that allow you to easily switch between favorites, a microphone Plug-in and a manual on/off switch.

4. Many different options of how to power the unit (e.g., wall adapter, USB, cigarette lighter and batteries) which allow you to use the transmitter in various locations.

5. Approximately 150 feet of transmission power (which is just about the maximum allowed by the FCC) - allowing for excellent sounding audio and minimal, if any, interference.

Having a wireless device, instead of wired, will allow you the freedom to move it from place to place and to easily access it to make adjustMents when needed. Also, in the event that you decide you don't want it anymore, a wireless transmitter gives you the peace of mind of not having something as permanent as a modulator. All in all, a wireless auto FM transmitter will give you a better experience than a wired modulator with no drop in audio quality.
